Toward an OBE

No kidding.

When I loaded Matt (6 years old) and Abby (2) into the car after picking them up from school and daycare, Matt informed Abby that we were all going to the beer store, and that if she was good, she might get a treat. Abby's been to the beer store more times than I care to admit (let's say it's more times than she's had her hairstyle changed, but fewer times than she's had her diaper changed), and she didn't miss a beat.

"Hollihop for Matt!" she says, mispronouncing "lollipop" and swinging her arm around to point at Matt.

"Hollihop for me!" she says, pointing at her belly.

"And Daddy get BEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It brought a tear to my eye.

Sometime in the middle of last week, we told Matt (6 years old) that we were trying to figure out what we were going to do on the 4th of July to see some fireworks. Oddly enough, he didn't seem that interested, and said, "Fireworks are for toddlers. I'm too old for that stuff." Right. He's 6.

Thinking that he was just being silly, we acted shocked, but told him that we were still excited by fireworks. "Well, when you get to be of a certain age, you start to like things that you used to like when you were real young." When the heck did I get to be "of a certain age?" And where the heck did he learn that phrase?

I took him to see the Catonsville fireworks. He loved them, and I abused him all the way back to the car about it.

I sold a brand new $130.00 under-counter CD player for $75.00 today. I won it, and couldn't use it, so getting $75.00 for it was great for me. Strangely enough, I tried to sell it all last week, and got no calls. I relisted it yesterday (same price, same detail, but with "BRAND NEW!" in the title) and got my first call within 2 hours, and an e-mail within 1/2 a day. Hey, everybody wins on this deal.
